Meet The FamLea

The Storm That Started It All
In 1996, Hurricane Fran tore through North Carolina, causing extensive damage across the state. For me, as a two-year-old, it started a lifelong passion in a terrifying way. During the storm, my temperature spiked, I suffered a seizure, and I was rushed to the hospital. Much to the amazement of the medical staff, my condition suddenly turned around the moment the hurricane passed.
Throughout my childhood, my body would uniquely react to extreme weather events. Fascinated by this connection, I spent countless hours glued to the television, watching local meteorologists and The Weather Channel, trying to decode how different atmospheric phenomena could affect us so rapidly.
Chasing the Dream
That childhood fascination turned into a career path. I took my passion to the University of North Carolina at Asheville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science in 2016. Later that year, I landed my first forecasting job in Oklahoma—the undisputed "Holy Grail" of severe weather.
I won’t lie: as a young meteorologist far from home, I made mistakes. Homesickness took a heavy toll on me, and ultimately, I lost that dream job.
A Blessing in Disguise
Against my parents’ wishes, I chose to stay in Oklahoma. I found a new way to serve the community as a Wireless Sales Consultant with Cellular Sales, an authorized Verizon retailer. Taking that leap turned out to be the greatest blessing of my life. In 2019, I met my future wife, Amanda, and her daughter, Oaklee. We married in 2021, and in 2022, we welcomed our daughter, Olivia, into the world.
Keeping Families Safe
In 2024, I decided to blend my meteorological expertise with the life I built here. I revamped my platform to create The Weather FamLea (a nod to our last name).
From daily forecasts to live storm chasing, our family's goal is to keep your family safe. We are dedicated to preparing Southwest Oklahoma families for whatever the skies bring—always delivering accurate, reliable weather coverage without ever causing fear or panic.
